Professor Vivian Wing-Wah Yam won the 2011 L'Oreal-UNESCO Awards For Women in Science (Asia-Pacific Laureate)
Professor Vivian Wing-Wah Yam won the 2011 L'Oreal-UNESCO Awards For Women in Science (Asia-Pacific Laureate). Professor Yam is the second local woman scientist to be awarded the honour. Five outstanding women scientists - one per continent - are honoured each year for the contributions of their research, the strength of their commitments and their impact to the society. This year, the For Women in Science Programme has a particularly strong resonance, placing women and chemistry at the heart of science today. Professor Yam is the laureate of the Asia/ Pacific region for her contributions in light-emitting materials and innovative ways of capturing solar energy.
